The new update of Blackmagic Video Assist 12G allows BRAW recording up to 4K / 60 inches in 5-inch and 7-inch models, thus enabling to unlock RAW recording for a whole range of cameras.
The Blackmagic Video Assist 12G has received a significant update and is now able to record Blackmagic RAW up to 4K 60p from multiple video sources and display HDR videos.
Available in 5-inch and 7-inch models, both devices have 2 12G SDI inputs to receive up to 4K / 60p DCI signals, as well as 2 HDMI inputs up to 4K / 60P as well. It is possible to hot swap Sony L-series batteries during operation and also record RAW files on SD cards.
For extended recording, the Blackmagic Video Assist 12G has a USB-C connector for recording on SSD or Flash drives. Ideal for recording in uncompressed RAW formats or for long periods.
Both monitors have a high brightness of 2500 nits, a wide color gamut HDR display, custom scopes and image modes in the image. 3D LUT support is built in and it is now possible to browse the timeline records and browse through the sequences by dragging left and right.
Like previous models, it is also possible to save in ProRes and DNx versions. The chassis is stronger, with several mounting points.

With the latest BRAW 1.5 update, Video Assist devices expand the possibilities of recording outside of compressed formats. However, at the present time, this is only possible on the IDS. Blackmagic Design is currently working to do this also via HDMI because opening this to cameras using an HDMI output would be extremely popular.
