Blackpink and Selena Gomez have released the playful video for their highly anticipated new single “Ice Cream”. Blackpink will release their debut album on October 2.

In the flirty clip, Gomez and the Ladies of Blackpink hang out in a pastel-colored world, driving an ice cream truck, biking and hanging out on a basketball court, while often enjoying the creamy confection they compare to feelings they feel for those they desire. Gomez begins with “Come a little closer because you look like you’re thirsty.” On the chorus, they sing, “Diamonds on my wrist, so he calls me ice cream / You can dip twice because I know you love me / Ice cream chillin ‘chillin’.”

“Ice Cream” is the second single from Blackpink: The Album, sequel to the trap-pop song “How You Like That”. Earlier this year, the quartet joined Lady Gaga for the Grammy award Chromatica “Sour Candy” track. In anticipation of this new single, Gomez invested in the ice cream brand Serendipity – which owns the famous New York restaurant Serendipity3. Along with the song’s release, a flavor called Cookies & Cream Remix (with pink vanilla ice cream) will go on sale Friday.

Blackpink made their official debut in 2016, although Korean label YG Entertainment started hosting auditions and recruiting potential members in 2011. They started dating singles shortly after their official lineup was locked down, including included their 2016 debut track “Boombayah”. They have released a few EPs, the most recent being from 2019 Kill this love. In 2018, they released a Japanese studio album titled Blackpink in your area, which was technically a compilation of their previously released Japanese singles and EPs.

Gomez released his third solo album Rare in January, his first album since 2015 The comeback. Most recently, she hosted the HBO Max cooking show Selena + Chef, which she filmed while isolating herself due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show presents Gomez with a distance learning course in cooking from renowned chefs around the world.
