Blake Shelton defended his recent song “Minimum Wage” after receiving negative feedback for some of his lyrics.
Some people online have called the song “out of tune” as Shelton sings about living on minimum wage when he had been away for years.
“I just feel like there are people these days who don’t want to know the truth,” the country star, 44, told CMT. “They just want to hear what they want to hear, and they want to fight.”
“Whatever your intention, whatever the truth, they want it to be something that they can be upset about so that they can go to social media and try to grab the headlines,” he added.

The “Voice” coach called “Minimum Wage” a “love song” and described how he is supposed to talk about hard times “as long as you have love and are happy – ultimately it ‘that’s all we can really hope for. “
He said love is “all that matters” and “if it’s offensive to you then we’ll just have to agree to disagree.”

Instead, Shelton attributed the review to “only four or five people who probably don’t know anything about country music.”
Shelton performed the song at NBC’s New Years TV event. “Girl, your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage,” he sang.

“The irony of listening to millionaire Blake Shelton sing about ‘minimum wage love’ at the end of 2020 may be lost on its target audience,” a user wrote.
“I love his music, but the timing for minimum wage isn’t great. With so many people out of work and struggling, the song seems a bit muffled. I’d like to hear more personal songs. let him write more. his own stuff because he’s an amazing songwriter, ” another said.
Someone else accepted, writing: “Does anyone else find Blake Shelton’s song ‘Minimum Wage’ incredibly muffled in the way our country is today?”

Shelton said his fiancee, Gwen Stefani, helped his brother, Todd, make his video.
The artist’s new song has to do with her love for 51-year-old singer “Hollaback Girl” and has a line in the chorus that has bowled many who have seen the show.
