Kelly Clarkson joins teammate Adam Levine.

Tuesday's episode revealed that the four finalists qualified for the final of NBC's "The Voice" next week, after the group of eight was cut in half after Monday's solo performances and Beatles duets.

Blake Shelton has a 75% chance of winning his seventh "Voice" title, with three of his singers making up the top four. John Legend's team is the only one standing in the way to Shelton.

America saves

Maelyn Jarmon, of the John Legend team, was the first singer to qualify for the final. For the second week in a row, the Texas native was the most vocal "Voice" artist overnight on Apple Music, with her performance of "Stay" by Rihanna.

It seems like the decision of Dexter Roberts to exchange his country roots for some good old rock'n'roll. roll against "Here Without You" from 3 Doors Down paid off. The artist from the Shelton team has moved on.

"I'm so happy to be here – all of these guys are like family," he told host Charlie Daly.

Roberts is no stranger to performing well on a singing competition. He finished seventh in season 13 of "American Idol" in 2014.

Gyth Rigdon, of the Shelton team, also progressed, despite mixed reviews from coaches on his performance of the movie "God Bless the U.S.A." from Lee Greenwood.

Instant backup

Shawn Sounds of the Legend Team, Rod Stokes of the Clarkson Team and Andrew Sevener of the Shelton Team have all competed for last place.

Sevener sang "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

"Part of myself believes this will take you to the finals," said Shelton, adding that the national crooner was "the most connective to a song I've heard all season".

Stokes introduced his signature grater at a performance of "Brother" from Needtobreathe. Clarkson was in tears: "I hope you will not go home tonight."

Sounds opted for "That's what I like" from Bruno Mars, thus showing some dance steps. The legend said, "He deserves to be in this final."

But determining the winner was not up to the coaches. Viewers decided during a five-minute flash poll by tweet.

In the end, Sevener advanced.

The eliminations

The two singers with the fewest votes were given their papers: Kim Cherry and Carter Lloyd Horne of Shelton.

Horne had difficulties with some opening notes when interpreting "Take me to the church" of Hozier, so its elimination was not a big surprise, but Cherry was a different story.

The rapper sensation proved that she was first a singer with a moving performance of Janet Jackson 's "Together Again," but failed to get fans to vote for her.

With Sounds and Stokes eliminated in the instant backup round, the Clarkson team was eliminated.
