Blazers part ways with investigator after questionable tweets surface

The Portland Trail Blazers are no longer dealing with the private investigator they hired to control head coach Chauncey Billups after his Twitter feed was found containing pornographic, anti-transgender and other material. The Twitter account of David Hallman, president and owner of the Adler group, was replaced yesterday by protégé.

Sophie Peel of Willamette Week posted an article this afternoon detailing the nature of Hallman’s tweets. She also quoted Ashley Clinkscale, senior vice president of communications, community and diversity for the Blazers, who said the organization would no longer do business with the Adler Group.

When WW asked the Trail Blazers today about the porn images, franchise spokesperson Ashley Clinkscale told WW the organization is now aware of the posts and will no longer use Hallman’s services. She did not say if Hallman was the lead investigator of the Billups investigation.

“Although the Trail Blazers have used the Adler Group for the past 11 years, we were recently notified of inappropriate content on the personal Twitter page of Group Director Adler. The content of the Twitter page is completely unacceptable and goes against what we stand for as an organization. As a result, we will no longer be using their services, ”Clinkscale told WW.

Clinkscale was the team’s PR representative at Billups’ introductory press conference.

Neither the article nor the Blazers indicated that the Blazers and the Adler Group were separating due to a flaw in the investigation.
