Bling Empire’s Anna Shay on Beauty, Fashion, and Rude Guests

[ad_1]

“I’m very shy,” says Anna Shay, the reclusive billionaire who made her reality TV debut on Netflix. Empire bling this month. Considering her age, she didn’t think she would get any attention, but over the past few weeks, she has become the most popular character on the show. She is certainly the most remarkable – older and weirder than her wealthy peers – but her biggest draw is that most Empire bling ‘s casting is busy with histrionics, Anna just wants to be rich and vibe.

The daughter of the late billionaire industrialist Edward Shay and his Japanese-Russian-American wife, Anna is often beautifully neglectful – in jeans and diamonds, her matted hair and smudged makeup. She speaks very little and when she does, it is in a whisper, and usually to impart a bit of wisdom to clear eyes. Things like “Don’t let the clothes wear you” and “You only have one life, it’s not a dress rehearsal.”

I was unexpectedly moved by these little ideas, so I called her to see if she could give me more. Her cell reception was spotty, possibly because she locked herself in the Beverly Hills mansion she recently bought from Dr Phil’s son, who decorated it as a tribute to Tim Burton. I didn’t get a chance to ask him about the house (or the penis pump launched from what I presume was one of his windows in episode two), but I did get some advice. about skin, fashion and what to do with rude party guests.

Do you have a morning routine?
Every day is different. When I had my children, I was with them. And now it’s just my dogs and me. For breakfast, I eat as little as possible because I should be on a diet. But I don’t eat breakfast before 2 p.m., then it’s a toast with my friend Maria.

What do you like to do in the evening?
Well, it would really depend on how you feel. It’s different with COVID, but sometimes [my friends and I] shopping at Target. Sometimes they want to go to the shooting range. Then we could go to the flower market or to the restaurant.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Everything my mom said about life. She and my dad taught me that money is not everything and that the most important things cannot be bought.

She would often say, “Behind every great man hides a great woman” and “I know who I am and you must know who you are.” She never believed in injections and [other] the things I do. For someone who is beautiful, there is always someone who is more beautiful. For someone who is smart, there is someone who is smarter. Just be happy and content with who you are.

What’s the secret to having a good party?
Well, it’s really quite simple. The secret is who would be sitting next to whom – make sure a guest is compatible with the people to their right and left. And remember what they’re drinking so the waiters don’t have to ask.

Do you have any tips for dealing with rude customers?
Just invite your best friends so they can block. It’s not my mom’s advice, it’s me. Why did I move Christine [in episode one]? Because I animated and didn’t have time to take care of her. I saw where she was and knew she wouldn’t get along with the people next to her because she asks unnecessary questions. And so I said [to my best friend] Maria, “Help, help.” And so Maria just spoke with her. Your best friend will always support you. Or your husband, but he has to help host.

What’s one beauty tip you swear by?
Nurse Jamie Sherrill. And wash your face and use Pond’s and Vaseline.

What perfume are you wearing?
I use oil and a light fragrance. When you get out of the shower, you put on your odorless body cream, then the oil, and just spray on the light scent. Right now I am using a rose oil called Caroline. I’ll send it to you, okay?

What are you carrying in your purse?
All. I have a handbag – what do you call it? – a large handbag. And I put everything I could possibly need where I could go next. And then I have a small handbag with the necessary. My wallet, phone, lipstick, eyeliner. And a rubber band to pull up my hair.

What’s one thing you would never wear?
I think you create your own style. It doesn’t matter if you are wearing something from Target or Chanel. There is only one thing I would not wear. This is something straight out of a mannequin, because the mannequin is size zero. I never want to becomeā€¦ what is it? A fashion circumstance, a victim of fashion.

A fashion victim?
Yes, a fashion victim.
