Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus is on cancer treatment: update

Updated July 18: Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, who spoke to fans about his cancer treatment in June, spoke specifically about his diagnosis in a Twitch stream reposted to YouTube on July 13. Hoppus revealed that he had ‘diffused large B-cell stage 4 A lymphoma’ meaning ‘it entered enough parts of my body that I was in stage 4 which I think is the most high possible. Hoppus said he still had three rounds of chemotherapy to go through and joked, “I hope the cancer in full remission is part of Walter White, not the drugmaker part of Walter White.”

Mark Hoppus, bassist and singer of blink-182 and Simple Creatures, announced on Twitter that he has been undergoing cancer chemotherapy for three months. “I have cancer,” Hoppus wrote. “It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m lucky to have amazing doctors, family, and friends to go through this.” The statement did not specify what type of cancer Hoppus has, or at what stage he was caught, but said he would continue the chemo for a few months.

Earlier today, Hoppus posted a story on Instagram, captioned: “Yes hello, cancer treatment please.” The post has since been deleted in favor of the more serious Twitter statement, but fans were already sharing messages of support on social networks. Hoppus has stayed connected with fans over the years by being Fun on Twitter even before the guy from Eve 6 had an account.
