Blizzard Delivers Overdue Diablo 4 Update

[ad_1]

Blizzard has provided a long overdue update on Diablo 4, which is still without a release date or even a release window. In August, several senior developers of the game, including its director, left amid an ongoing scandal involving the company. Since then, there has been no update on the game, leaving Diablo fans with a lot of questions, including who is leading the game’s development as a director. Today, some of this information has finally been shared, thanks to a new quarterly update.

According to this update, the head of game development is now Joe Shely, who prior to the redesign was in charge of the game’s design.

“I am Joe Shely from Diablo IV team. As a design lead who has been working on this dark, shared, open-world action role-playing game from the start, I am honored to pursue the vision of Diablo IV as the new Game Director, and I’m honored to represent the team that puts their heart into this game, ”Shely said in the update. Like many of you, our team has reflected on recent events. Much has happened since our last blog and the hard work to put into practice the values to which we aspire must continue. Along with this important work, the development of Diablo IV also continues. Over the past few years, we have assembled a strong team with an incredible passion for Diablo IV. You, Diablo fans, are an essential part of this team. Thanks to your valuable feedback, we have gradually refined and deepened the gaming experience. We have a long way to go, and although much has changed, our commitment to the game is unwavering. “

In addition to providing an update on the team, Blizzard also provided an update on the game, or more specifically, a “deep dive” into the sound design of the game, which can be found here.

Unfortunately, while the update answers some important questions about the state of the team and more specific questions about the game’s sound design, it still doesn’t answer any of the bigger question marks, including when the title will be released or whether or not it is coming to PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
