Last month Blizzard announced Diablo II: resurrected. It’s a remaster of the base game and Lord of Destruction, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch and several other platforms this year. Speaking to IGN, game producer Matthew Cederquist explained how support for save files over two decades old was not originally planned. The team just tried it and it worked.
“Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old backup files would work and we kind of pushed it and it worked. And we were like “okay, this is the best feature ever.” “
While there is no mention of whether this feature will work even with console versions of the game, the remaster does support cross-progression. So in theory, you should be able to load your old PC save file into the computer version and then access it on whatever console platform you want.
Even if you don’t have your original saves, that technically means you can start leveling up any character you want in the original PC version (which is available on Battle.Net), as the remaster is the same game with new sounds and graphics. , and a few other changes like an improved UI, expanded stash, and revamped scale seasons.
