Bloodlines 2 has again delayed and its developers replaced

As the months go by, it seems like we are getting further and further away from Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 which is still out. The supernatural RPG was originally scheduled to launch in 2020, before being delayed to 2021. Now publisher Paradox Interactive says that won’t happen either. But the real shock? Paradox is removing developer Hardsuit Labs from Bloodlines 2 and will end the project with a different studio.

“We have now chosen to postpone the game’s release further, and we will not be launching the game in 2021,” Paradox said in its year-end report. “We also decided that Hardsuit Labs would no longer lead the development of Bloodlines 2, and we started a collaboration with a new partner studio to complete the work on the game. It was a difficult decision, but we are convinced. is the right way forward to do justice to gambling. ”

It looks like Bloodlines 2 has been having quite a bit of trouble for a while now. Shortly after announcing the first delay last year, Paradox revealed that they fired the game’s narrative manager, Brian Mitsoda, and creative director, Ka’ai Cluney. Mitsoda was the cornerstone of the sequel’s legitimacy claims, having been a writer and designer on the original.

Paradox gives no indication of who might develop the game now, and makes no mention of a new release date either. A statement on the Bloodlines 2 website states: “As we cannot communicate a new release date at this time, we have also decided to stop accepting pre-orders for the time being.” (Although at the time of this article’s publication, the website is under maintenance.)

So will Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 ever come out? Who knows! Lauren was hoping we could hear a little bit about it during Paradox Interactive’s next game showcase in March. While given this pretty bad news, I can’t imagine they would want it on everyone’s radar just yet.

Disclosure: Former RPS columnist Cara Ellison was previously narrative designer on Bloodlines 2.
