The five programs that will be operated by BMV and Daimler AG include Reach Now, Charge Now, Free Now, Park Now and Share Now. Reach Now is a service that gives users a variety of ways to reach their destination while traveling, including public transit, carpooling and bike rentals. Charge now will create an extensive network of charging stations designed to improve the access of electric vehicles. A competitor of Uber and Lyft, Free Now is an application that already offers services in 17 countries in Europe and Latin America. Park Now allows people to plan and pay for parking spaces in advance in order to reduce the time spent driving in search of open spaces. Share Now also offers shared electric vehicles as an alternative to owning a car.
Most companies under BMV and Daimler already have some operational capacity and companies claim that they already serve more than 60 million customers. Last year, BMV and Daimler decided to operate their mobility services as a 50/50 joint venture in order to expand their reach and help sustain their business models. Car manufacturers got the approval of regulators for their plan in December. Initiatives are expected to grow significantly with the new influx of money as automakers focus on the future of transportation.
