You have to look beyond the grille of the iX. Just accept it for what it is or ignore it all together because that piece of polarizing design that doesn’t power a radiator like it does with the gasoline-powered X5. Instead, it has a few sensors and that’s really a design feature. But look beyond that, because behind it is BMW’s fifth-generation EV system, which is actually awesome.
While the interior of the iX carries the torch of the now-discontinued i3, that vehicle’s limitations, namely its short range, have disappeared. The iX starting at $ 83,200 has a targeted range of around 300 miles. Beyond the design, it behaves and drives like a next-gen electric vehicle with a plethora of features that will delight early adopters and those who migrated from gasoline-powered BMWs.
