ALBUQUERQUE (CBSLA / AP) –Actor Bob Odenkirk collapsed on the set of AMC’s “Better Call Saul” and was hospitalized Tuesday night.

Odenkirk was in Albuquerque, New Mexico to film the final season of the spinoff series “Breaking Bad” when he suffered a medical emergency, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His representatives said in a statement Wednesday afternoon that the cause of his collapse was due to a heart problem and that he was in stable condition.

“We can confirm that Bob is in stable condition after suffering a cardiac event. He and his family wish to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses who care for him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of their best wishes and asking for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery. “

Shortly before the statement was released, Odenkirk’s son Nate, the eldest of his two children, tweeted: “It’s going to be fine.”

“Better Call Saul,” the prequel spin-off of “Breaking Bad,” filmed its sixth and final season, which is slated to air on AMC next year. Like “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul” is set and is primarily filmed in Albuquerque.

Odenkirk has been nominated for four Emmy Awards for playing the title character, a hapless lawyer named Jimmy McGill who becomes increasingly corrupt and adopts the pseudonym Saul Goodman.

Michael McKean, the Odenkirk co-star who played his brother on the show, was among many wishing Odenkirk good luck on social media.

“Send immense love to our @mrbobodenkirk,” McKean tweeted. “You have this, my brother.”

An email sent to an AMC representative requesting more information or feedback was not immediately returned.
