Bobby Flay was to Food web since the days when the famous chefs of television were still a novelty, hosting more than ten broadcasts for the channel over the years. But almost three decades later, Flay is good to go.

Variety announced that after 27 years, Flay and Food Network go their separate ways. His current contract expires at the end of the year. As the post reported, Flay was in negotiations for a new contract, but in the end they could not come to an agreement. Sources close to Food Network said Variety that the decision to cut the ties between Flay and the network was taken “because the parties were very far apart financially”.

The first Flay show hosted on Food Network was Grill & Chillin ‘, and he quickly became a household name through his various shows, like Defeat Bobby Flay, Brunch at Bobby’s, BBQ with Bobby Flay, and Boy Meets Grill.

He also made appearances on Chopped, Iron Chef America, America’s Worst Cooks, The best thing I have ever eaten, and The next star of the food web, and hosted a cooking show with her daughter, Sophie, called The playlist. Even skin became the first chef to earn his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, thanks to his fame through Food Network.

So what’s next for the celebrity chef? After so many years on TV, that probably doesn’t mean his fans won’t be able to watch him cook on screen.. If anything, as a celebrity chef who is now a “free agent,” any major streaming platform can take their pick to do a show with him.

Netflix has been striving to expand its selection of cooking shows in recent years, with shows like The chefs show, Ugly Delicious, Midnight dinner, and The American barbecue showdown. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if some executives’ ears are waking up to hear of his departure from the Food Network.
