Bobby Wagner made 13 tackles in last week’s win over the Colts. The Seahawks linebacker left that game with a much better feeling than he did on Sunday when he set a franchise record with 20 in an overtime loss to the Titans.
“It’s cool, but we lost, so it doesn’t really matter,” Wagner said, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Tackling isn’t an official stat, and some teams use press stats while others wait for their coaches to rate the movie. Wagner previously peaked 19 in a single game in a game against the Saints in 2019.
The Seahawks, however, allowed 532 yards on Sunday, including 182 rushing yards by Derrick Henry. He’s tied for the most rushing yards the Seahawks have allowed a running back in a game under Pete Carroll. Adrian Peterson won 182 against Seattle in 2012.
“It’s certainly not a good feeling, but it’s something we can learn from,” Wagner said. “It’s the start of the season, so we have to watch this movie and improve.”
