A body was found at Dennis Day, an original Disney Mouseketeer missing for over eight months.

Human remains have not been identified and the investigation is under way, according to a statement sent to Saturday's US TODAY by Captain Tim Fox, spokesman for the state's police department. 39; Oregon.

Day, 76, a Mouseketeer from Disney's Mickey Mouse Club for two years in the mid-1950s, was once one of America's most famous TV artists. He has danced and sung on millions of black and white TVs across the country, wearing the iconic mouse-ear cap and sweaters adorned with his name.

But day has not been seen since July, when he disappeared from his small town of Phoenix. He has left behind his beloved dog and dog and his partner for more than 45 years, Ernest Caswell, who has memory-related dementia and is now living in a nursing home.

Her sister, Nelda Adkins, of Coalinga, Calif., Told USA TODAY in February that she feared the worst.

"In the current state of things, unless we find a body, we will not find it," she said.

The rural house and Day's possessions had already been searched, as well as the cemeteries and local canals, to no avail.

Phoenix Police Lieutenant Jeff Price told USA TODAY two months ago that Day's car had been found about 200 miles away on the Oregon coast, in the possession of two strangers. who claimed Day had borrowed them.

It was impounded by the Oregon State Police and was later searched, but there was no evidence of foul play, said Price.
