A man from California was arrested after authorities discovered the alleged remains of his wife, who has been missing since July.
According to the Sacramento Bee, police on Friday arrested Anthony Gumina, 44, linked to the disappearance of his wife, 33-year-old Heather Gumina.
MPs have sent him a "bail order for domestic violence," according to an article published on social media by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
A subsequent search of the Pleasant Valley area in the county allegedly uncovered human remains, prompting the sheriff's office to open a homicide investigation. The authorities have not yet specified how and where the remains were found.
Heather Gumina was reported missing on July 19th. As previously reported CrimeOnline, investigators found his 2005 black Infiniti G in El Dorado County, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, 35 weeks later.
In August, the DailyMail reported that Anthony Gumina had been sued for domestic violence after allegedly beating Heather earlier this year. He was also charged with using methamphetamines and opiates during the fight and attempting to prevent Heather from asking for help.
After her disappearance, Anthony Gumina requested a restraining order against Heather, alleging that she had punched him in the face and "tried to tip a wheelbarrow full of sand on my legs" .
Anthony Gumina told The DailyMail last month that he had nothing to do with the disappearance of his wife and that he was praying for his return.
"Look, this wedding is not going to work, but I would never do anything like it [harming her]. I am a lover. I'm not that kind of guy, "Gumina said in August. "The sheriff [deputies] were here for about 30 hours to conduct an investigation. They took my car. They have gone all the way, so I clean again and again and deal with my wife. I do not deserve this. "
Heather has three children aged 4 to 14 years old. Her mother, Joanna Russel, told KTXL-TV that the family had feared her death and that it was difficult to get the news.
Shortly before her disappearance, Heather had been hospitalized after fracturing her clavicle and cried over the pain she felt, according to Russel.
Nevertheless, Russel stated that she would never leave her children of her own free will.
"Every minute of the day, I want to die inside," Russell had already told KTXL-TV. "Yes, I want to die because I have not protected it. I did not protect it. "
Anthony Gumina is currently detained at El Dorado County Jail.
