Authorities said the girl was trying to travel to the United States with a group of people from her country. His body was discovered 17 km west of Lukeville.

She was traveling with several other people and was trying to enter the United States after smugglers threw them arms near the Mexican border, the agency said in a statement on Thursday. Temperatures in the wilderness where she was found hovered around 108 degrees on Wednesday, the day the authorities discovered her body.

Border patrol officers from the Tucson area obtained information about his last moments of two Indian women. They told officials that they had been separated from a woman and two children a few hours earlier while they were trying to enter the United States.

"The officers detained the two women and began searching north of the international border on an isolated plot 11 km west of Quitobaquito Springs," the agency said in a statement. "A few hours later, they discovered the remains of the little girl."

After a search with the help of helicopters for other people with whom she was traveling, officers found footprints indicating that they had returned to Mexico.

"Our sympathies go to this little girl and her family," said Roy Villareal, chief patrol officer for Tucson. "It's a senseless death brought on by cartels that take advantage of life's endangerment."

Customs and border protection officials and Mexican authorities are looking for anyone associated with the group on both sides of the border.
