Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., Blasted Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tennessee on Monday for suggesting she took rioters on tour of the U.S. Capitol shortly before Jan.6, which Boebert denied.

“During your interview on CNN today, you made false and slanderous statements that threatened the safety of my family, my staff and me,” Boebert wrote in a letter to Cohen. “It’s unfortunate that you connected my family being in DC for my swearing-in with the Capitol Riots… I never gave a tour of the US Capitol to an outside group.”

“As I said before, I took my family to the Capitol on January 2 for a visit and on January 3 for photos commemorating the day I was sworn in as a member of the US Congress,” Boebert continued. . “Again, the only people I have ever had on Capitol Hill with me during the 117th Congress are my young children, my husband, my mother, my aunt and my uncle.”

“Your false statements are extremely irresponsible during this time,” she wrote.

More than 30 House Democrats signed a letter last week claiming their fellow Republicans may have aided the Capitol rioters by offering them “reconnaissance” tours of the U.S. Capitol, but have yet to flesh out their accusations. Cohen is not one of the original signatories of the letter.

“The only thing I saw, congressman [John] Yarmuth refreshed my memories yesterday we saw Boebert take a group of people on a tour sometime after [Jan. 3] and before [Jan. 6]”Cohen told CNN on Monday.” And she had a great group with her. Now, whether it’s people involved in the insurgency or not, I don’t know. … But it’s pretty clear that her team is the team – they are not part of the home team. She was with the visitors. “

Last week, House Democrats called for an immediate investigation by Capitol Hill police and acting House and Senate sergeants-at-arms into “suspicious behavior.”

Their letter does not name any members or staff who might have conducted the so-called “reconnaissance” visits, as Rep. Mikie Sherrill, DN.J., described them, nor give more details as to why the visitors appeared suspicious.

“Visitors some members of Congress met on this letter appeared to be associated with the White House rally the next day,” lawmakers wrote. “The members of the group that attacked the Capitol appeared to have unusually detailed knowledge of the layout of the Capitol complex. The presence of these groups in the Capitol complex was indeed suspect.”

Boebert, who was criticized for tweeting “It’s 1776” hours before the U.S. Capitol was stormed, told Fox News last week she did not give visits to members of the public .

“Due to COVID-19, I have not given any visits to the Capitol except to show my children where I will be working while I am away from home,” Boebert said in a statement Thursday.
