Boebert’s communications director resigns amid Capitol riot: report

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) Director of communications resigned following last week’s deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, Axios Reports.

“Following the events of January 6, I have decided to separate myself from the office,” Ben Goldey told Axios in a statement. “I wish her and the people of Colorado’s Third District the best.”

Goldey’s then cited the riot last week which left five people dead, the outlet said. Goldey would have been at work for less than two weeks when he resigned, according to Axios. In a statement to The Hill, Boebert Chief of Staff Jeff Small said: “The office does not comment on internal staff matters with individual employees. Rep. Boebert hired a powerful team, held all positions staff in his office and took over. ”

“Representative Boebert looks forward to focusing on and serving the interests of the people of the Third Congressional District,” the statement continued.

Boebert has faced backlash over his actions which some say contributed to the riot, including tweeting the location of lawmakers.
