In just a few hours, Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim has gone from a celebratory victory to the Carrier Dome to a fatal accident along the I-690.

Here's what CNYCentral learned about the chronology of events on Wednesday night.

The Syracuse basketball match against Louisville's number 18 ended shortly before 9 pm.

Coach Boeheim held his post-match press conference shortly after and ended around 9:15 pm.

The general manager of the Italian restaurant Joey on Thompson Road. told CNYCentral that Jim and Juli Boeheim and a few others had dined at the restaurant around 9:45 pm

The general manager said that they were sitting down for more privacy. He added that Boeheim did not drink alcohol and had never seen him drink while visiting the restaurant.

The Boeheims stayed for about an hour and departed around 22:45, according to the general manager.

At 11:22, the regulators received a 911 call from Boeheim and the police were sent to I-690 East, near Thompson Road. exit.

Investigators say that one car lost control and struck a guardrail. They say that several people in the car went out and walked on the highway near this vehicle.

Police said Boeheim had noticed the car down and tried to avoid the vehicle in the middle of the road. It was then that police said that Boeheim had hit 51-year-old Jorge Jimenez of Syracuse, who was at the side of the road.

Jimenez was taken to the North State University Hospital where he was declared dead.

Coach Boeheim has spoken with the police and "cooperates fully in the investigation," police said.

He issued a statement Thursday around noon stating that he was "heartbroken".

The police stated that they did not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. They have not issued any notes or charges at this time.
