Boeing Max makes emergency landing at Newark Liberty due to engine indicator

American Airlines says one of its Boeing 737 Max aircraft made an emergency landing after pilots noticed a possible problem with an engine oil pressure gauge.

Flight 2555 landed safely at Newark Liberty International Airport after a flight from Miami. A spokeswoman for the airline said the plane made its way to the gate on its own and none of the 95 passengers or six crew members were injured.

The problem did not appear to be related to the probable cause of two fatal crashes involving Boeing Max jets in 2018 and 2019. In both cases, investigators focused on a flight control system that pushed the nose of the plane. down.
