Yesterday we reported that charging times in The legend of Zelda: the breath of nature seems to have improved dramatically with its latest update (the same with VR mode added to the menu). The time required to load backup files, sanctuaries, and fast moving has been reduced by about a third (or more).
Super Mario Odyssey also shows improvements – another title that has received an update of virtual reality. However, it seems that these games are benefiting from a new feature of the recent 8.0.0 firmware update for Switch.
Enthusiasts have analyzed the changes and it seems that Nintendo may have inserted a "boost mode" in the update that allows the processor to be temporarily overclocked from 1 GHz to 1.75 GHz. The system works harder to speed up the loads and once finished, it goes back to norms.
Although this feature seems to be available to all, games will need to be updated to take advantage of extra power when loading. It will be fascinating to monitor updates in the coming weeks and see if other games have shorter load times.
We do not usually have major problems with loading times on the console, but a bit of haste is never a bad thing. What games do you think could most benefit from a boost in terms of loading time? Let us know below.
