Border Patrol Union Chief Blames Congress on Migrant Caravans: "What are you doing about it?"

The huge caravan of migrants heading for the US-Mexico border is due to the fact that Congress "does not act and continues to encourage illegal immigration," according to a border official and a senior union official.

Hector Garza, vice-president of the National Border Patrol Council, commented on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday following a video showing nearly 300 migrants entering Texas. Behind them, a new caravan that can hold up to 10,000 migrants is now heading to Mexico, with America being its destination.

"This caravan is not an accident. It's actually the result of all these sanctuary policies, "said Garza. "This is the result of Congress not acting and continuing to encourage illegal immigration."

Garza says that migrants benefit from the way the US immigration system treats asylum seekers in order to enter the country.

"President Trump is doing everything in his power to put an end to this crisis, but Democrats and some activists are doing everything in their power to undermine his authority," he told Fox & Friends ".

Garza said some of Democracy 2020's presidential candidates admitted that a problem persisted at the US border, but that he ended up believing that they were not doing enough.

"If you hear what Senator Bernie Sanders said and Cory Booker, they already recognize that there is a crisis at the border," he said. "But the question is, what are you doing about it?"

Garza commended Trump for drawing attention to the increase in migrants, saying "no other president has held Mexico accountable" like him.

"They act, they move and they stop some of these caravans, otherwise the situation at the border will only worsen," he added.
