Prioritize the campaign

Do not ignore collectibles
When you browse the map, be sure to zigzag, if only to reveal more and to allow more collectibles. Each person has a decent experience bonus, so make a case-by-case decision.
But do not try to find them all at the same time
After a certain point in history, new fights and doodads are launched in each zone. Therefore, cleaning an area early will not actually clean it. It is more efficient to complete everything once everything is unlocked to avoid retreading the same floor and wasting valuable upgrade time.
Keep most of the side quests for later
Some side quests reward weapons with stats launched at your current level. To make sure they are not immediately useless, it is best to keep these tests for level 40 to level 50. In addition, parallel tests will be your level once you have completed the campaign. Maximize their benefits by saving for the end.
Look for artifacts with experience bonuses
It takes a while to unlock the ability to equip artifacts, but once you've done it, the chance for XP bonuses increases. I've found an artifact with a 7% experience bonus, which is not a paltry sum in the slow progression from level 40 to level 50. Every bit helps.
Play with a high level friend
The parties in cooperation with a high-profile friend in their campaign will actually contribute to the experience gained by distributing level-ups every few minutes if the gap between them is sufficient. Certainly, this means that you will probably see quests and places that you have not unlocked yet. It is therefore best to save your friends' upgrade to quickly activate a second, third, or fourth character.
Repeat the end-of-game tests
With the campaign over, repeatable quests to infinity become available. Trials take place in old places. So you have to pick them up when you are cleaning out side quests and collectibles. Completing them quickly yields better rewards, but it will take work. Each event specializes in different enemy factions and environments, and sends you a ton of the game's toughest morons before you prepare to face a stubborn leader. Each represents a concentrated dose of experience and loot. Master them.
Chaos
The Mayhem mode is a toggle that you can turn on or off at any time to increase the difficulty and the rewards that come with it once you have completed the campaign. With three levels of difficulty to solve, the Mayhem mode combines well with the trials of the final phase as a precursor to a second part in True Vault Hunter mode. At that point, you'll be in the same final stage as everyone else, that endless thirst for a higher guardian rank and slightly better equipment from here to infinity (or the next version of DLC).
