As you advance through Borderlands 3, you may encounter locked safes bearing the "T" symbol. This is what the game calls Typhoon Dead Drops and they are related to one of the main challenges you can face in the game using audio logs – known as Typhoon Logs– left behind by the first Vault fighter, Typhon de Leon. You may have already met a few at Pandora during the opening hours of the game and you probably spent five minutes debating how frustrating you were to unlock it.
How Typhoon newspapers are used to unlock chests
To open these chests, you must find all Typhoon Logs left by Typhoon of Leon on the map in which you are. While you may be thinking, "Oh no, I have to find where all these tedious collectibles are." Do not worry, the location of the logs is clearly indicated on the map, provided you get close to it a bit, which saves you from having to find them completely blind. And once you have acquired all three, the location of the Typhoon Dead Drop will be revealed to you on the map.
There is usually a Typhoon Dead Drop card per open area. Try to take the time to look for Typhoon Logs to get a solid loot. It is also interesting to research and listen to these newspapers because they actually contain details that affect what you will discover later in the story.
