Boston Celtics goalie Marcus Smart will likely continue to rehabilitate his left calf strain during the March 5-10 break with hopes of returning to the roster for the start of the second half of the season, said sources at ESPN.

Smart, struggling to fully recover from the injury on Jan.30, resumed his trip with the Celtics on Sunday in New Orleans and participated in light activities on the pitch, coach Brad Stevens said ahead of the his team’s game against the Pelicans.

The Celtics are 5-6 without Smart in the lineup since his injury, and he would likely miss seven more games until the end of the first half of the season on March 4.

Smart was having his best NBA season, including career highs in points (13.1), assists (6.1) and interceptions (1.8). He also leads the Celtics in defensive categories which include deflections and loose ball recoveries.
