A sailor who ran the Boston Marathon in the honor of three men he rubbed along crawled along the finish line on Monday while his body was about to cave in – but his mind did not leave him.
Micah Herndon, 31, ran the race in 3 hours and 38 minutes, according to the results of the race. But to reach this target, he had to physically slide his body along the sidewalk to finish the race.

Herndon, of Ohio, has served several times in Iraq and Afghanistan, reported the Record-Courier. During a tour of Afghanistan in 2010, three people with whom he was were killed when they were targeted by a trapped machine.
Marines Mark Juarez and Matthew Ballard, as well as British journalist Rupert Hamer, have died. He said that he had run the Boston Marathon Sunday for them.
"I run in their honor. They are no longer there. I am here and I am capable, "Herndon told the newspaper. I'm lucky to still have all my members. I can still be active. I find fuel in the simple idea that I can run. Some can not. "

He said that despite his small difficulties – that he has pain in his feet or that he is tired of running – he remembers why he continues, in the style "Semper Fi".
"I'm just repeating their names aloud, they've had a much worse situation, so I introduced myself to them and their families."
In an article on Facebook, Herndon shared the photo of a pair of orange Nike sneakers, but with a sentimental detail: three small gold plates bearing the names Juarez, Ballard and Hamer are woven with laces. The plates reminded Herndon why he kept running.
The videos posted Monday show that Herndon has kept his word. Towards the end, he crawled to the finish line, finishing the race at 11,334 points in total.
