Boston Straight Pride Parade organizer and Natick Town Meeting member – both avowed supporters of President Trump – latest to be arrested for their role in attempted insurgency on Capitol Hill earlier this month federal officials said.
Mark Sahady, 46, of Malden, and Suzanne Ianni, 59, of Natick, were arrested without incident early Tuesday at their respective homes, according to the FBI.
The two face charges of disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and illegally entering or staying in the U.S. Capitol building on January 6 as Congress meets to certify the election victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
The two are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boston later today.
Sahady is the founder and vice-president of anti-LGBTQ Super Happy Fun America, known for his ‘Straight Pride’ march in Boston in 2019. Ianni also has ties to the group, according to FBI documents, and has helped to organize buses that carried hundreds of people. of Trump supporters from Massachusetts to Washington DC before the violence.
The group claims to be an advocate for the “straight community,” according to their website, and carries the motto “It’s great to be straight.”
The two are pictured together inside and outside the U.S. Capitol building as a violent crowd stormed the building in photos posted to social media, according to FBI documents.
In a January 5 post to the group’s Facebook page, Ianni and Sahady are pictured together on one of those buses with thumbs-up signs alongside half a dozen other people, according to the archives. from the FBI. Ianni allegedly bragged to a local newspaper that she was the “main organizer” of the buses, according to documents. Her LinkedIn account identifies her as a member of the Massachusetts Women for Trump board of directors.
Ianni is also listed as a contact person in a January 4 Facebook post on the “New England for Trump” account announcing the Super Happy Fun America road trip to Washington DC “ahead of a joint session of Congress with state voters on January 6. “
Sahady’s Twitter account was replete with “multiple statements” claiming the 2020 election had been stolen from Trump and urging supporters to rally in Washington to respond on Jan.6 to “send a message,” according to the background documents. charge.
