CAIRO, July 14 (Reuters) – Telecom Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding with Liquid Telecom to enable the Pan African group to complete Africa's terrestrial fiber optic network across the African continent Saturday, companies announced. Liquid Telecom, a subsidiary of Econet Wireless Global, has built a fiber network across Southern Africa covering Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. He is also present in Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda.
"Liquid Telecom will connect its network from Sudan to Telecom Egypt's network via a new cross-border interconnection – bringing together a 60,000 km network that extends from Cape Town, across all the countries of Southern Africa, Central and Eastern have now reached the border between Sudan and Egypt, "said the two companies in a statement.
