BAY COUNTY, FLORIDA (WJHG / WECP) – Some local fish now have a new place to call home.

On Wednesday morning, the Bay County Artificial Reef Association deployed a barge to Gulf

Bay County signed a five-year agreement to work with the Artificial Reef Association in order to Improve fishing and diving opportunities at the local level.

The officials say this new reef will be great for our local people. Reefs make fish and make houses for fish, it's like building a house in which someone can move in, they do not necessarily pull fish from other places, they create new ones habitats for fish, and they increase the fish population, "explains Clayton Syfrett.

Bay County officials say reef costs about $ 35,000 to deploy
