Toyota is by far the most popular vehicle in the country in terms of new and old registrations, and has been a favorite for many decades.
Recent figures, however, show that Honda's popularity is growing, surpbading other favorites such as Volkswagen, Mazda and Nissan, particularly with respect to early recordings.
Botswana's statistics for new registrations in the first quarter of 2019 indicate that while Toyota was the
popular, the actual number of first registrations of Toyotas was 5,282, compared to 6,036 in the fourth quarter of 2018.
In comparison, Hondas' first registrations were up 1,777 in the first quarter of 2019, compared with 1,607 in the fourth quarter of 2018. Honda, especially the Fit and Jazz models of the occasion, have become very popular in the countries because of their affordability and sustainability, especially in the public transport sector.
