VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –

On Friday night, Mars will be closer to Earth for 15 years, and a university in South Georgia makes sure you can see up close.

The Observatory of the Valdosta State University invites the community to attend the event on Fridays and Mondays, and it will be free.

The event will take place from 21:30. at 11 pm

For those of you who can not get to the observatory, Dr. Kenneth Rumstay, professor of physics, astronomy and geosciences, said that the planet is easy to spot. Just look for the bright orange star in the sky

The VSU observatory is located on the roof of Nevins Hall.

Guests must enter the south-east entrance of the building and take the stairs or the elevator up to the fourth floor.

Limited parking will be available in front of Nevins Hall and across Patterson Street
