A very busy Saturday for the bubble was titled by the ACC bluebloods who have been trying to find their way into the medium lately. One of them succeeded. North Carolina came back in the second half to beat Florida State, moving the Tar Heels into support for the time being. They are just past the last four teams on the pitch after scoring their best win of the season, but can’t rest on their laurels as they still have games in Syracuse and at home against rival Duke.

Speaking of the Blue Devils, they missed a chance to get into the range on Saturday when they fell to Louisville in overtime in their home final. There are still chances for Duke, however. You have to hit the road to face Georgia Tech before playing at UNC. And, of course, there is always the ACC tournament where quality away from home wins can be won.

Mississippi and Minnesota burst their bubbles yesterday, and you can ram a fork in Indiana as well.

Vanderbilt ended all realistic Mississippi hopes for an all-around bid with a 75-70 win on Saturday, and there aren’t any good wins left on Mississippi’s schedule to make up for games like this. Minnesota’s late season faint hit another low in a 78-74 loss to Nebraska. That’s five straight losses for the Gophers, who haven’t won since a training injury to Gabe Kalscheur that occurred before the second of the losses in that streak, which came in Indiana.

It was the last time the Hoosiers tasted victory. Not at all surprising, Indiana lost at home to Michigan 73-58 yesterday to drop to .500 this season. They still have games at Michigan State and Purdue, two teams the Hoosiers have previously lost to at home. After the game, coach Archie Miller said guard Arman Franklin would likely miss those games with a foot injury. He’s Indiana’s most trusted guard.

In the Big East, UConn and Xavier are out of the bubble for the time being for good reason. Each won, with Xavier’s victory over Creighton at home, avenging an earlier loss to the Bluejays.

Here are the bubble teams in action on Sunday, starting with a “double bubble” match. Every hour in the East
