Answer: A dearly departed game show host who once proved his bare legs to be just as impressive as his wit.

What is: An Alex Trebek without pants? Correct!

As the latest episode of the late Trebek of “Jeopardy!” Set to air Friday, Brad Rutter – one of the trivia series’ highest-paying contestants – fondly remembers when the veteran trivia host hilariously opened the show in his underwear.

Rutter, who racked up $ 4.6 million as a “Jeopardy!” A recurring contestant, Trebek recalled, apparently straight to the laces, flexing his funny bones on the 2005 “Ultimate Tournament of Champions” show.

“We were so nervous, we were all as pale as a ghost,” Rutter told Philadelphia radio station WOGL of the stress he and his opponents Ken Jennings and Jerome Vered all shared ahead of their mental battle.

To ease the tension, Rutter, Jennings and Vered joked about playing against each other without pants, noting the signature “Jeopardy!” Podiums. Would keep their three-way joke private.

“What we didn’t know was our mics were live, and Alex heard us,” Rutter said.

To the sound of legendary TV announcer Johnny Gilbert: “This is the host of ‘Jeopardy !,’ Alex Trebek,” said Rutter, “Alex came out without pants.

Rutter – set to host ABC’s new game show “The Chase”, alongside Jennings and “Jeopardy!” champion James Holzhauer – considers himself lucky to have experienced the television icon’s sense of humor.

“Danger!” Executive producer Mike Richards told Deadline the show was in no rush to name a successor to Trebek, who lost his 20-month battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in November. He was 80 years old.

“The research is going very well, there are a lot of people very interested in welcoming ‘Jeopardy! “” Richards said, without revealing the candidates, of whom there are many rumors.

“We’re going to take our time and talk to a lot of people, have guest hosts and see what our fans think too,” he said.

Jennings and television central Katie Couric were both asked to host “Jeopardy!” in the meantime after Trebek’s last appearance aired this week.

Trebek, a scholar of bottomless intelligence, will be missed.
