Braun speakers make a comeback with Airplay 2 and Google Assistant

Legendary design brand Braun is back in the speaker business with its first new products from the original 28-year-old Dieter Rams original LE line, launching a trio of modern recordings on classic speakers from IFA 2019: the LE01, LE02 and LE03. via 9to5Mac.

Or, in a way: the loudspeakers are not technically produced by Braun, but by Pure Audio, which licensed the Braun Audio brand from Procter & Gamble earlier this year. That said, the three new speakers are clearly inspired by Rams' original design, although some modern innovations have been added, such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This also means that the new speakers support features such as AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Google Assistant, thanks to built-in microphones.

The speakers can also be paired for stereo sound and offer both a 3.5mm headphone jack (for direct audio input) and an Ethernet port (if you do not want to rely on your Wi-Fi network) . And for those who simply want to listen to music without worrying about Google's presence, there's also a dedicated privacy button that turns off the microphones.

As for the design, they look pretty nice, with more rounded angles than Rams' original cubic style. They will fit seamlessly into your minimalist living room, if that's a problem. The most important question is how they sound, which will have to wait until we can hear them in person, although Engadget reports that the speakers made a good impression at first.

Braun publishes three models of the resurrected LE line: the largest, the LE1999 $; a medium-sized model at $ 799 LE02; and the relatively small (and square) LE03 version for $ 379. The three sizes will be available in black or white and will go on sale in October.
