Brayden Smith, last “Jeopardy!” champion during Alex Trebek’s tenure, dies at age 24

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Brayden Smith, the latest “Jeopardy!” champion during Alex Trebek’s tenure on the show, has died aged 24, his family tweeted.

His family said Smith died suddenly on February 5.

Smith was the show’s five-time champion and his obituary says he was looking forward to making the show’s Tournament of Champions.

Jeopardy posted a statement on Twitter saying:

JEOPARDIE! The family is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brayden Smith. He was kind, funny, and absolutely brilliant. Our deepest condolences to Brayden’s family. We will miss him.
