According to Regina Amélia Aguiar, coordinator of the Ambulatory Hospital Ambulatory Clinic, the goal of the project is to encourage men considered healthy to do routine examinations, often ignored by them .
While the pregnant woman is seen at the outpatient clinic, the companion will do blood tests that examine blood sugar, cholesterol and badually transmitted diseases. In addition, the family will receive advice on general aspects of pregnancy and baby care. When a disease is detected, the parent will be referred to a primary care unit.
For Regina, the strategy can directly affect the quality of pregnancy and the baby's health, as silent diseases can be discovered before partner contamination. Syphilis, for example, can be transmitted to the pregnant woman during unprotected bad and the fetus can become infected, until spontaneous abortion or premature delivery. "We want to educate men about their importance in pregnancy and how it can improve the outcome of pregnancy."
Five men have already been treated at the Hospital das Clínicas, which is the first establishment in Belo Horizonte to offer this service. . Only partners of HC-badisted pregnant women will be taken care of and there is no need to make an appointment.
