Acquired cases of adult syphilis increase by 72% in one year in Acre, says Health | Acre

For department coordinator, Nelson Guedes, cases have increased in Acre since health units started doing the test quickly. According to him, from then on, people started looking for more positions and, with that, more cases were diagnosed.

According to the data, until June 6 of this year, 442 cases of the disease were registered in the state.

With regard to conbad syphilis in children 0 to 1 year of age, the number also increased by 19%. Jump from 86 diagnoses in 2016 to 102 in 2017. Only until the last day on June 6, 50 children were diagnosed with syphilis.

The survey indicates that among pregnant women, the number of cases has increased by 14% in one year. In 2016 were recorded 372 cases of the disease and in 2017 were 425. Until June 6, 2018 were diagnosed 206 cases.

Syphilis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. It can be badually transmitted, called acquired syphilis, or vertically, known as conbad syphilis, when the mother pbades the bacteria to the baby.

The disease manifests itself in four phases. Primary, secondary, latent and tertiary. In the first stage, small lesions appear on the skin and appear on average three weeks after infection.

If left untreated, syphilis can progress to the secondary form where the bacteria has already invaded organs and body fluids. At this point, rashes may appear, more serious injuries in the bads and in other parts of the body.

While tertiary syphilis may take 10 years or more to manifest, it acts by inflammation and destruction of tissues and bones.

Records of people living with AIDS decreased by 29% in Acre in one year. According to the data of Sesacre, in 2016, 82 cases were recorded and the following year 58.

AIDS is the symptomatic manifestation of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and does not appear so only when it is not controlled. What happens is a fall in the immune system, which is vulnerable to opportunistic diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis.

With early detection of HIV, the number of AIDS cases tends to decrease.
