Government Announces Partnerships with Vale and MRS for Railway Construction

The government will use private initiative to build strategic railways. In return, the companies will have other contracts, such as the concession of railway lines, renewed for 30 years. Two projects ter have priority. The first will be the Central-West (Fico) Integration Railway of 383 km between Água Boa (MT) and the junction of the North-South Railway at Campinorte (GO). The second will be Ferroanel of São Paulo, 53 kilometers between the stations of Perus, in the capital of São Paulo, and Manoel Feio, Itaquaquecetuba, in the region of Mogi das Cruzes (SP), with a parallel road to the northern section Rodoanel Paulista.

Estimated in R $ 4 billion, Fico will be built by the mining company Vale, which in exchange will have the concessions of the railways Carajás (in Pará and Maranhão) and Vitória-Minas, renewed until 39, in 2057 "Even if we deduce what the minor spent to duplicate the Carajás railway, the company will have to pay R $ 4 billion, but will build Fico back."

Regarding Ferroanel, the procedure will be similar.The company MRS Logística ter is the concession of several paths of Iron renovated in exchange for the construction of the extension of 53 kilometers.With the project, freight trains to the Port of Santos (SP) will no longer share the tracks of the Companhia Paulista of Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), which carry pbadengers in the metropolitan area of ​​São Paulo.

Highway Concession

The three ministers participated in the Investment Partnership Program (IPP) Council meeting, which approved the National Logistics Plan (NLP). According to Adalberto, this plan aims to double the transport capacity of the Brazilian rail network over the next seven years. "Currently, 15% of the freight in the country is transported by train, and we want to increase it to 31% by 2025," he said. The IPP seeks to make infrastructure investments in partnership with the private sector.

At the meeting of today the PPI Council approved the inclusion in the program of 14 projects that will generate an investment of $ 100 R over the next few years. The ministers also announced the launch this week of 30-year concession notices for the South Integration Highway, formed by BR 101, 290, 386 and 448, in Rio Grande do Sul, and the beginning of studies for the concession of BR 153, 282 and 470 in Santa Catarina

In addition to Fico, Ferroanel de São Paulo and the highways in Santa Catarina, the ministers announced the inclusion in the program of concessions of the fifth round pre-salt auction and of ten lots of power transmission lines
