If the Brazilians are found guilty, they may be subject to penalties ranging from fines to the ban on entering Russian territory again.
In his communication to the government dated June 20, Popova quotes articles from Russian law that point to punishments regarding humiliation or insult. In a text published by the activist, she warns that one of the people involved had a public position and that she could not "humiliate" the Russian woman.
