The Sanitary Secretariat of Bahia (Sesab) presented this Saturday (14) the expansion project of the Regional Hospital Mário Dourado Sobrinho, in Irecê, in the north center of Bahia. The work will begin later this year and will cost about R $ 18.5 million in works only. The unit will increase from 115 to 200 beds, with the expansion of infirmaries and intensive care units for adults and neonates, as well as the creation of new structures. Among the new areas, we highlight the construction of a normal birth center, a conventional neonatal care unit (UCINCo) and a kangaroo (UCINCa), a unit of great complexity in oncology (Unacon) and a service of hemodynamics. The work also plans to expand the number of surgical center rooms, from four to six. On all beds, 40 will be infirmaries, 10 adult intensive care units, 5 neonatal intensive care units, 10 UCINCo beds; 5 beds of UCINCa; 3 PPP beds (pre-delivery, delivery and postpartum); and 12 oncology beds. The hospital will receive a very complex oncology unit and will have radiotherapy and chemotherapy services. A highly complex cardiovascular service, including cardiac surgery and hemodynamics, will also be set up, which will allow for the first time in the region to perform examinations and interventions such as catheterization and angioplasties for myocardial infarction and stroke.
