The program has been in testing for a few months and is a free upgrade from clbadic Skype to the desktop. It is different from the version of the application that comes with Windows, which remains unchanged. The company did not mention there will be a combination of applications. For the moment, there are still two Skype programs for Windows, one pre-installed in Windows 10 and another optional. According to Microsoft, Skype 7.0 and older versions will only be active in September, by which time Skype 8.0 will become mandatory.
In addition to a new look, the application has customizable themes, easier to share the screen of the computer on a call and the ability to reposition video windows. The program still brings compatibility with robots to book tickets and plan trips by chat. Microsoft is soon promising more features for Skype 8.0, such as message reading and private conversations with Signal Protocol encryption, the same as the one used in the Signal messenger.
The call recorder is in the list of functions provided for the new version of the messenger. By the end of July, the feature should reach all Skype users, including Skype 8.0 for desktop computers. Depending on the manufacturer, all callers will be notified when a voice or video recording starts. The feature will be cloud-based and can be accessed from any device. The novelty should not require the installation of third-party programs, which were until now the only alternative to record voice and video conversations on the platform.
