The State Department for Health confirmed Friday (20) the occurrence of seven cases of measles in the state of Rio de Janeiro, five in the city of Rio and two in Duque de Caxias, in the Baixada Fluminense. All episodes are related to the UFRJ Law School (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), where the first case of the disease in the state was registered after 18 years.

Immunization coverage against the disease for children of one year in the state is 95%. Children under one year of age and adults under 49 who have not been vaccinated should be vaccinated. Those who took both doses of the vaccine do not need to take a new dose.
