"Mission: Impossible – Fallout Effect" became the most expensive film in the history of the franchise – simply for accusing Tom Cruise of crashing during the shooting. With the actor's ankle break, production had to sit still for eight weeks, which dramatically increased costs, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The publication reports that the film's budget was estimated for a source at $ 250 million. The actual value would however be in the order of $ 180 million, as many of the expenses related to the cruise accident were covered by insurance.

It could be worse. Unlike many productions with similar problems, "Fallout" did not have to make new shots – the very scene in which Cruise was hurt entered the last part of the film. The highest cost comes from expenses incurred to keep employees hired for an additional eight weeks to prevent them from working on other projects.
The larger budget should put more pressure on the fifth "Mission: Impossible" to perform well at the box office.
