A small bomb exploded Thursday in front of the US Embbady in Beijing and injured the attacker, according to witnesses and an embbady spokesman.

"There was an explosion today, around 13:00 (local time, 02:00, Brasília) in the public area outside the precincts of the city center. Embbady, "said an embbady spokesman in Efe.

The artifact was triggered by a person, according to security officials at the Embbady. "In addition to the author, there are more wounded," the spokesman added, noting that the Chinese police "responded to the incident."

The attack was initially released by witnesses through social networks with videos and photographs.

Witnesses said that the individual had been injured in the handling of the bomb, but it is still unclear whether he attempted to attack the embbady or to hurt himself .

Some videos posted on the Internet showed smoke, pbaders-by and policemen in a confused scene crossing the embbady, while in other images, several agents are around a person being served on the floor.

Police subsequently announced that the man responsible for the incident was a 26-year-old man from Inner Mongolia, who was wounded with one hand and that no other person present at the scene was injured.

However, the police statement did not provide details about the possible motivation of the man.

This is an "individual case of public security," said a spokesman for Chinese Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, at a press conference.

Chinese police isolated the eastern entrance of the embbady, located northeast of Beijing. This is an area where entry is for visa procedures, so it is usually very busy.

In 2013, a possibly similar incident occurred when a man blew up a homemade bomb and was injured.
