The story is well known: during the 1970s, Hilda Hilst attempted to contact the dead. In a line of work designed by Swedish filmmaker Friedrich Jurgenson, the poet uses the white noise of radio waves to try to capture voices from beyond. In 1979, Hilda appeared in a report of Fantástico while speaking about it, but this work had never been taken seriously. He now has the opportunity to get new readings with Hilda Hilst Pede Contacto, Gabriela Greeb's film, which will premiere at the Paraty International Literature Festival (Flip).

The filmmaker is the director of A Mochila. from Muscat (2005), an art film about Italian director and scenographer Gianni Ratto, who has lived in Brazil since the 1950s and died in 2005. A key name of the Brazilian drama in the second half of the 20th century , he worked with Fernanda Montenegro and Paulo Autran, among many other names. The film, well noted, fell into the hands of José Luis Mora Fuentes, then the heir to the work of Hilda Hilst, who sent him an email inviting him to make a film like this on the # Writer

The House of the Sun – Hilda's house in the Campinas area – noticed a box with ribbons as if abandoned. Mora Fuentes wanted to discourage, but the material was the same: records of Hilda's recordings asking for contact with the dead. The film appeared in the director's head at the same time.

"I thought: let's go back to the procedure," the director told Paraty. "She, dead, will talk to the living, I wanted the film to put her in touch with the reader, what she always wanted."

For me, this dialogue that she seeks, this eternity, is the reader. With the sound of the Portuguese Vasco Pimentel – with whom Greeb shares the 10-hour table of Flip's main lineup Thursday – and starring Luciana Domschke, the film puts the voice of Hilda's original recordings in the actress, and puts dialogues and other testimonials. For 10 years in production, the film has been rejected in 35 reviews, according to the director. "Why does Brazil have no confidence in the author? People think we are crazy," he says ironically. Everything was filmed at Casa do Sol.

The film also gave rise to a book of the same title, released on Flip by Sesi-SP Editora.

She asks for contact names like Kafka, Clarice Lispector and Wladimir Herzog, but almost always refers to Jurgenson's "cosmic people" phrase. For Greeb, more than these curiosities, the film fulfills a function of highlighting this material, which perhaps would not be known otherwise.

With the growth of academic studies on Hilda Hilst, it may be interesting to speculate how this material

"I often say that Hilda works like a big cog, the very day that I finished the film, almost 10 years later, I started a wine with a friend and I received a call saying that she would be honored at Flip, "she says, still having a hard time believing. [19659002] The film – whose photographic direction is provided by Rui Poças – will premiere on the commercial circuit on Thursday, August 2.
