How it works
With high oxidative potency and antimicrobial action, ozonotherapy can be used in several settings: periodontal disease temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) . Studies show that ozone is effective against decayed microorganisms and reduces sensitivity after surgery. The technique is also used in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases, in surgeries, as an aid in the process of tissue repair, and in cases of bone necrosis in the maxillary.
Gas is the best known form of ozone treatment, but the substance can also be administered in water and oil. The use of water and ozonated gas accelerates the healing of the infection related to the treatment of the cbad, as well as the fight against fungi that can adhere to prostheses and dentures.
The formulation of the oil gives good results of treatment of prolasm of the inflammatory base and in the control of injuries caused by herpes.
Ozone in the world
Brazil is the fifth country with the most high scientific output related to ozonotherapy. We are talking about performing laboratory studies and randomized clinical trials (when groups recruited for the experiment are randomly selected). Other countries, such as Germany, Italy, Spain and Cuba are investing not only in research, but are already using ozone in their health systems.
The technique is considered absolutely safe. According to the German Association of ozonotherapy, the incidence of side effects is 0.0007%, while therapies with the use of acetylsalicylic acid, for example, reach the percentage of 0.2%. It is important to emphasize that the expected efficiency will only be possible if the technique is used according to protocols established around the world.
Ozone therapy is formalized in 14 different countries. In Brazil, it has been recognized by the Federal Council of Dentistry since 2015, recalling that only qualified professionals who have taken a specific course, with a minimum workload of 32 hours, can practice it.
