The anti-rabies vaccination campaign in Jaú immunized until last Wednesday 7,231 animals: 5,447 dogs and 1,243 cats in the urban area and 460 dogs and 81 cats in the countryside. The information, provided by the Department of Communication of the City Council, belongs to the Zoonoses Sector.
In urban areas, the initiative began on July 20 and continues until tomorrow, the 28th vaccination stations were installed in several neighborhoods of the city. Then, Saturday, August 4, the following Saturday, vaccination booths will be installed in a few other places (see box). In rural areas, the campaign started on 16 July and continues until 12 August.
The rabies vaccine is free. All dogs and cats still puppies aged at least 4 months should receive the dose. The city plans to vaccinate 17,100 dogs and 3,200 cats.
