SÃO PAULO – After collecting No. 1, 773 million emails and 20 million pbadwords exchanged last month, security experts unveiled Monday the discovery of a new file of 2.2 billion confidential data stored on the Internet: the so-called Collection No. 2-5.
The new leak contains data already disclosed by hackers on other occasions, including some of the 3 billion Yahoo accounts affected in 2003 and significant episodes affecting users of Dropbox and LinkedIn.
The user may use sites such as Have I Was Pwned or the Hbado Plattner Institute's (HPB) identity leak checker. The second address contains the data of the five lists exposed since the beginning of the year (collections 1 to 5). In addition to the names and pbadwords for logging in, the tool displays other sensitive information that may have been exposed.
If any of your e-mail addresses contain at least one of the leaks, it is highly recommended that you change your pbadwords. ESET, a digital security company, advises you to always use more than 10 characters, including letters, numbers and symbols, and to configure the dual authentication factor, if any.
